Cases that come with holsters are a little bit of a rarity these days, but i-Blason has come out with one such solution that combines a thin, polycarbonate case with a holster utilizing the same material. When holstered, your Galaxy S5 will be protected from all angles and there’s also a kickstand feature built in to the back of the case as well. You can currently order the Transformer Holster Combo for the Galaxy S5 in Black, Red, Blue, or Purple.
If you’re looking for a case for your new Galaxy S5 that’s both thin, light, and adds a few different features to an already great handset, i-Blason has a strong candidate in its Transformer Slim Hard Shell Case Holster Combo (that’s a mouthful, isn’t it?). This case consists of purely polycarbonate in both the actual shell which fastens around your S5, and the holster which the entire case slides into from the top. Combined, your Galaxy S5 is protected from virtually all angles.
On the exterior of the holster and case, there is a textured, checkerboard pattern which adds to the style and also assists greatly in grip. The polycarbonate is rubberized, which means it should absorb a little more shock than a normal mold of polycarbonate. On the back of the case is a pull-out kickstand, which can set your Galaxy S5 up in either the vertical, portrait orientation or a horizontal, landscape orientation. It clicks neatly back into place when not in use via a sliding mechanism.
There’s a little bit of additional attention that went into their holster component as well. i-Blason has lined the interior with a soft, felt-like material that protects your screen from getting scuffed or scratched while sliding in and also slightly wipes away fingerprints and smudges while in there. The belt clip on the back rotates, but it is a little fragile so don’t force it too hard or it might snap off.
You will also retain complete functionality of your S5, including ports, buttons, speakers, microphones, Heart Rate Monitor, and Fingerprint Scanner while in the case and the holster (except for your screen and front-facing camera of course).
This is a very light-duty case and holster, and it’s not meant to be overly rugged. It might withstand a drop or two, but it’s not as protective as hybrid cases which have stronger holsters at a cost of being much more bulky, so the decision is yours to make.
