The Mesh Armor from Caseology is a slightly different design of their popular Armor Plate (formerly Slim Armor) cases, this time utilizing a grid of holes on the back of the polycarbonate and largely keeping everything else the same. You can currently order these in seven different colors, each with their own TPU and polycarbonate color combinations.
Typically, most hybrid cases these days follow a strict formula. That formula being a largely silicone skin accentuated by a polycarbonate portion, but with the Mesh Armor, the polycarbonate shell is king. Instead of exposed exterior TPU along the tops or corners of the case, the shell covers all of the external surface area that the TPU would cover except for the front lip, and this makes it slightly more rugged than other hybrid solutions in this category of case.
Because of the consistently overlapping polycarbonate though, you do have a case that is slightly less ergonomic than most others, having a more boxier feel and look to it which leads to squared off siding that will definitely kill the thinness factor of your Galaxy S5. But with that sacrifice comes excellent drop protection.
Inside the case is the familiar pattern we’re accustomed to seeing, a heat dissipation pattern which will allow your device to breathe properly and not overheat and damage the battery door or your case. The TPU also has buttons designed into the TPU for button pressing as opposed to cutouts. There’s also cutouts for all of the Galaxy S5 features and ports.
As we stated earlier, this device is great at drop protection, and if you do drop your Galaxy S5 while in this case there’s not much that can happen to it outside of landing directly on a protrusion and it making direct contact with the screen.
The price on this case is absolutely stellar for the protection and style it offers, and the only real trade-off is how boxy it is, but you cannot beat the price these are currently being sold at.
