One of the first aluminum Galaxy S5 cases has just been made available from Motomo, and it’s called the INO. Available in tons of different colors in both perforated and brushed styles, this case is mostly crafted from the light metal and touched off with a little bit of polycarbonate. You can currently pick yours out from their incredibly large selection and get a discount to boot!
While not 100% aluminum, the INO from Motomo is comprised of the lightweight metal on the rear plate that fits onto the back of your Galaxy S5. On the tops and bottoms is the polycarbonate portion of the hard case which protect all four of your corners and help grip your Galaxy S5 securely when in use.
Protection-wise, this case is vastly similar to a plain polycarbonate hard case. While the aluminum plate on the rear is very nice for the overall feel and perceived luxury of the case, it doesn’t play too integral of a part in overall protection. Seeing as the the most vulnerable spots on your Galaxy S5, and any large touchscreen device for that matter, are the four corners, the metal won’t play too large of a role. However, the feel offered by the INO is great and having that cold feel touch your finger tips will emanate quality.
The INO has all the proper cutouts we’ve come to expect from a Galaxy S5 case, and you’ll keep full access to your rear speaker, camera stuff, and there are also openings for your buttons. In regards to the Heart Rate Monitor, there is a small opening for it and the flash, so it might be a little obscured.
In terms of compatibility with the Qi wireless charging solutions, you will lose that compatibility.
If you were to drop your Galaxy S5 while in this case, you are still at risk of damaging your device. The polycarbonate used is great for guarding against scratches and outside pressure, but there are no shock absorption properties like with what you’d find in TPU, silicone, or hybrid solutions. The aluminum does keep the case a little more rigid, however.
